The recent media layoffs made me feel anxious about my journalism career.
As a journalist who went through a couple of layoffs, I learned always to keep my resume, portfolio, and network up to date. "Always stay ready so you don't have to get ready," is what I tell myself. And, "You're always being interviewed even after you get the job."
When I scroll back through my body of work, the anxiety loosens just enough to get me through the day.
While there are no Emmys or Edward R. Murrow Awards on my shelf, I'm proud of all I've accomplished in my journalism career.
I'm not done yet. And if I'm completely honest, it feels like I'm just getting started.
